Australia remains lucky to have a nationally-endorsed antibiotic guideline. This underpins antimicrobial stewardship efforts across community and healthcare settings.
The 15th Edition update includes revised advice on preventing postoperative infection and managing severe sepsis and septic shock, pneumonia, gastrointestinal tract infections and skin infections. New topics covering the prevention of infection in immunosuppressed patients and outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy have been added. There are new sections on the management of patients in residential care facilities who have pneumonia, gastroenteritis, or urinary tract infection, and several new easy-to-use management algorithms.
Further information about the new content is provided in the ‘What’s new?’ leaflet from the Therapeutic Guidelines website.
