NPS Medicinewise have put together an introduction to appropriate antimicrobial prescribing module for GPs, nurses and students. The activity is free and involves an interactive case study.
The course learning objectives include:
- describe the key components of appropriate antimicrobial prescribing
- differentiate between prophylactic, empirical and directed therapy
- outline the major adverse effects of antimicrobial therapy
- implement a systematic approach to using current antimicrobial guidelines for prescribing
The activity has been accredited by the RACGP as a CPD activity and is recognised for Quality Prescribing Incentive of the Practice Incentives Program .
